Webinar #12 in Synergy Careers Webinar Series, #8 in The Careers in…. Series looks at careers in Accounting & Finance. The webinar aims to inform those joining in, of the variety of course options to suit different academic abilities, aptitudes and interests. We aim to give an insight into subject/grade requirements, key skills and qualities suited, job prospects, course content and more. You will get insight from careers guidance perspective along with college/course options to suit all levels, professional body insight and hear from someone working in the industry.

Guest Speakers

Thank you to our Guest Speaker Ian Wallace from Cork University School of Business (CUBS) at UCC and Ciara Miller a training accountant with a UL BBS in Accounting.

Past speakers include Peter Traynor Irish Tax Institute, Frank Harrington TUDublin and Graduates and students in Surveying and Property Evaluation 2024; DCU Orla Feeney and UG Mary Cosgrove and student in accounting and finance DCU 2023; UL Dr John Heneghan and Daniel McAleese from Society of Actuaries of Ireland.

Timing

  • 0-30 minutes: Synergy Careers on who is best suited, elements to consider, course/training options, requirements and some research tips.
  • 30-45 minutes: UCC Ian Wallace, options offered in CUBS, UCC Business school with a particular focus on Accounting and Finance undergraduate programme.s
  • 45-55 minutes: Graduate Experience: Ciara Miller on careers exploration, work experience, UL Business to being a Trainee Accountant in a medium size firm Pivotal Corporate.
  • 55-65 minutes: Panel Discussion, impact of AI and tips for students/parents.
